Alex Craigie is a trial lawyer recognized for his innovative, cost-effective and, where necessary, highly aggressive approach to Employment dispute advocacy. After 10 years as a Partner at a leading national law firm, Alex launched his own practice in 2014 with the aim of using the skills and experience he gained representing Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes lawsuits throughout the nation, to represent clients exclusively in Employment Law throughout California.
Alex holds an “AV” Preeminent Peer Review rating by Martindale-Hubbell (“A” denotes Very High to Preeminent Legal Ability, “V” denotes Very High Ethical Standards). Law & Politics magazine recognized Alex as a “Rising Star” in 2004. He was named a Southern California “Super Lawyer” by Los Angeles magazine for the years 2005-2010, 2020-2022. In 2012 and 2013, the prestigious ABA Journal included his popular law blog, AtCounselTable.com, in the annual Blawg 100. Alex is frequently included in the Who’s Who in Professional Services by the Pacific Coast Business Times.
A recognized thought leader in employment law and trial tactics, Alex has been interviewed, quoted and published in various media outlets, including, The Los Angeles Daily Journal, the Los Angeles Times, Santa Barbara Lawyer, ACC Docket, Nonprofit World, California Lawyer, Small Business Los Angeles, and For the Defense.
Alex served as an Adjunct Instructor on the Legal Aspects of Employment Practice for the UC Santa Barbara Human Resource Management Professional Certificate Program. A member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Alex regularly lectures to business and human resources organizations throughout California on employment law topics.
Alex attended University of California, San Diego, where he received BA degrees in Philosophy and Literature-Writing (graduating with Department Honors), and Loyola Law School, where he was a member of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and competed in the Scott Moot Court Competition.
Alex is an active member of the Santa Barbara County Bar Assn., where he serves as the Employment Law Section Head, regularly organizing Continuing Legal Education programs to educate lawyers in the community on employment law issues and developments. He also belongs to the William L. Gordon Inn of Court, the Santa Barbara University Club and is an Associate Member of the Santa Barbara Contractors Association. Alex is also a Member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Labor & Employment Law.
Alex volunteers in various local philanthropic organizations, including VNA Health (formerly, Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care), where he serves on the Board of Trustees, Ethics and Audit Committees, as well as on the Animal Welfare Committee of the Santa Barbara Zoo. He formerly served on the Board of Trustees of Child Abuse Listening and Mediation (CALM).
Alex plays tennis in the Montecito Mafia and as a member the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. He enjoys spending time with his family and pets and applauding his daughter’s accomplishments as a rising hunter jumper equestrian.
